Dear Foothill Families,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! Our PTA board is excited to ”Make a Splash” with this year's lineup of educational programs, family events, and fun school-wide activities. We have a lot of new faces on the board this year and we can’t wait to connect with you. Our community here at Foothill is what makes it such a special place, and we’re excited to further that sense of community this year.
Foothill’s Parent Teacher Association is responsible for funding several key programs in our classrooms. We offer Teacher Grants, which provide our staff with classroom supplies, training, and classroom activities. We also fund and coordinate many school day programs, including Foothill’s Art Lessons; Project Cornerstone, our book-based, social emotional learning program; and Playground Pals, our inclusive recess initiative. We also schedule Assemblies, Author Visits, Kindness Week, and Staff Appreciation Events to enrich the school days of our students and staff. Finally, we produce the annual Yearbook to capture all of your children’s wonderful milestones.
We run many community events outside of the classroom, beginning with tomorrow’s Ice Cream Social. We celebrate the diversity of our community with our school-favorite International Day, now taking place in the fall. We also showcase the many talents of our students with our Variety Show, Science Fair, and Math Team. We provide our older students with additional opportunities through Foothill’s Lego League and our annual Musical. In another scheduling change from last year, performances for this year’s musical, James and the Giant Peach, will take place in the spring, with auditions in November. New this year, we’re launching an after school Drama Club in partnership with Saratoga Theater Arts, with separate 6 week sessions for our 3rd-5th and K-2nd grade students.
We manage all of these programs through the generosity of our parent community. Foothill parents are generous with their time and resources, which are needed equally to make our programs a success. When schools, families, and communities work together to support learning, children do better in school and like school more. Please consider volunteering, it really does make a difference!
Foothill’s teacher grants, schoolwide programs, and community events are funded through our annual “Make a Splash” campaign, with a requested donation of $350 per student. You can make your tax-deductible gift through our website or by dropping a check in the main office. We’re placing a special emphasis on Company Matching this year, so please also check with your employer to see if they offer it. Company Matching has a huge impact on our overall funding with no extra cost to you, so please take advantage if you can!
We’re excited to “Make a Splash” with you this school year! Go Dolphins!
